As the saying goes, genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.
And when it comes to hit songs, this couldn't be more true.

Good Songs are Written. HIT Songs are REwritten

Most hit songs start off with a spark of inspiration, but it’s during the rewrite process where they’re meticulously fine-tuned.

This masterclass provides you with a step-by-step process you can use during your rewrite process to take your songs from good to great.

There are three main segments to this masterclass, each approximately three hours long: melody and hooks, lyrics and rhymes, and structure and arrangement.

Each segment uses in-depth Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 case studies to explore:

  • The most effective songwriting techniques used in today’s hits
  • How today’s hits are optimized to fire on all cylinders

You'll learn:

  • Techniques for optimizing every aspect of your song while preserving its original essence
  • How to assess your song’s strengths and weaknesses
  • The psychology behind strategic songwriting and production decisions

You’ll walk away with Hit Songs Deconstructed proprietary materials that you can use to assess and optimize your songs, including:

  • Three workbooks with checklists to help guide you through your rewrite process (one for each segment)
  • The Hit Songs Deconstructed Melodic Parts Table
  • The Hit Songs Deconstructed Narrative Assessment Table
  • The Hit Songs Deconstructed A.I.D.E. Table
  • The Hit Songs Deconstructed Rhymes Table

While taking this masterclass, you also have the option to add live, one-on-one, Zoom coaching sessions to help you apply the concepts you learn to a song you are working on. Coaching session is are personally conducted by Hit Songs Deconstructed Founder, and masterclass instructor, David Penn.
