Ariana Grande’s God Is A Woman is the second single from her 2018 hit album, Sweetener. Co-written by Grande along with some of the biggest names in songwriting, including Max Martin, Ilya, Savan Kotecha and Rickard Goransson, God Is A Woman packs quite the musical punch and quickly became a favorite of listeners around the world. To date the song has landed in the Top 10 on over 20 charts throughout the world, peaking at #1 in the US on the Billboard Dance Club Songs and Mainstream Top 40 charts.

As one would expect from this team of songwriters, God Is A Woman is exceptionally infectious and easily connects with audiences due, in part, to it being in tune with many of the compositional characteristics that were trending at the time the song was released. Among them are Hip Hop, Trap and R&B influences, a minor key, and a groove that sits in the mid-70 bpm range.

However, the song also possesses an array of characteristics that help it stand apart from many of its mainstream contemporaries, such as a pre-chorus “D” (Departure) section, a hooking up lyrical theme delivered with religious symbolism, and, perhaps most notably, a powerful Gospel choir outro sung entirely by Grande that brings the song to a conclusion on a powerful and memorable note.
